Calories Expended

I had decided that the race car would be built as if it would be a NASA ST4 car. As such, I would need to ensure that it met the letter of the law per the NASA CCR. Estimating that the car would be less than 3000lb in the end, I used DOM 1.75" x 0.095" steel tubing. I ordered approximately 100', which was perhaps 20' too many. I then researched tube bending machinery and ended up with a Woodward Fab WFB2. I bolted it to some pergola anchorages on the patio of our house and set about. I had the main hoop measured in bent after 2 days of work. I had a good time with the bender, but man it made for solid days of upper body workouts. I think nights after the bender days brought some of the best sleep in years. Measurements are sort of fiddle-some but once the bending radii start points are figured out, it goes along pretty well. A YouTube video had mentioned that bending a 1' long 'cheater' bend with which measurements for the actual bends could be measured was a lifesaver. Video checks out.
